when i call a virgin mobile phone number, i get a recording that says message 7 switch 182. does anyone know what this means?
I am located in Indianapolis, IN, but the owner of the phone is in Kokomo, IN area code 765 if that makes any difference?
more than likely that means they do not have any mins on there phone. try calling after 7pm and if you still get the message then try to text them. It does not always say that the customer you are calling phone has been disconnected. sometimes when you are out of minutes you can get that message too.
It appears to be a problem with a switch in Indianapolis. I am a Virgin Mobile customer that just tried calling a business located near Keystone and 465 and received message 12 SWITCH 182. I am calling from the Gas City area. Since I have plenty of minutes and was calling a land line, I would think that the problem is not related to minutes...
When you call a Sprint/Virgin Mobile number and get a message 7 error (number or code dialed is incorrect), that means the person you called is out of minutes and/or the number has been disconnected... Message 12 means the call didn't go thru, likely because of a network overload...I know this for a fact, I'm very familiar with the Sprint error codes. Other examples, message 8 = dial an area code before the number. Message 2 = the person called is unavailable (no voicemail). Message 3 = Number is temporarily not in service. Message 4 = No international calling with your service. Message 16 = Your phone can not be authenticated. I've happened to come across all of these codes within the past few years.
